Cats & Dogs

Being a pet friendly store, we thought it would be fun to have a section featuring cats and dogs on labels. Check out these great animals named after a wine or spirit. Dogs

DUNHAM 2003 Three Legged Red (Columbia Valley, Washington State) $20.00 Port is a three-legged dog rescued by winemaker Eric Dunham after a viscious pit bull attack. MULDERBOSCH 2001 Faithful Hound (Stellenbosch, South Africa) $22 This Bordeaux blend label is in memory of a faithful hound, who after being abandoned, kept vigil outside his vacant former home until his death. BONNY DOON CA' DEL SOLO 2002 Barbara (Monterey, California) $17 You never know what you might find on Randall Graham's labels. The Ca' del Solo line usually has a dog or a cat somewhere. This Barbara proudly sports a dalmation on leash. VINUM CELLARS 2004 Petite Sirah "Pets" (Wilson Vineyards, California) $16 A portion of the profits go to the local animal shelter. Dedicated to farmer's dog named "Tanker." RABID RED 2003 (California) $15 The label is an artist's rendition of a "Petey" kinda dog with black eye and tongue hanging out. Blend of zinfandel, cab, merlot, syrah, etc. CASCINA DEGLI ULIVI 2003 Gavi "Filagnotti" (Tassarolo, Italy) $20 This biodynamic wine not only gives you an all natural drinking experience, but a picture of a lazy dog laying under a bright sun. STARVEDOG LANE 2003 Shiraz (Adelaide Hills, Australia) $14.50 Abstract line drawing of dog with a bone decorates this one. LA SPINONA 2003 Dolcetto d'Alba (Italy) $15.00 Little Baica, a griffon or "spinona", that was rescued, loved and lost is memorialized with the winery name and label. JOHANNES OHLIG 2004 "Nikki" Dry Riesling (Rheingau,Germany) $15.00 Another lovely label from importer Willie Gluckstern of Miskeit Wines. This one has a terrier sneakin' sips from a ladies glass.

Merlot (Ch. Boanne Dragonfly Lx Kameron) is co-owned with Ron Gatling, Kameron Kennels, and Lucia Brown, Dragonfly Afghans. Shiraz (Ch. Dragonfly Hi Kaliber Shiraz) is Merlot's daughter.

Cats

BOSS CAT 2004 Chardonnay (East Coast, New Zealand) $12.50 This wine is part of a series with cool cat names like Glamour Puss Pinot and Cat's Phee on a Gooseberry Bush Sauvignon Blanc. ZELLER Schwarz Katz (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany) $12.00 This black cat-shaped bottle gets every cat-lover's attention. NATIVO 2003 Malbec "El Felino" (Mendoza, Argentina) $15 The mythical animal adorning this bottle was inspired by the folk art of the indigenous people who lived along the Andes over a 1000 years ago. BUDINI 2003 Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) $12.00 Budini, the rare and beautiful wild Pampas Cat of Argentina, has always been elusive.
